Pyrgos - Ilia (Greece)

Pyrgos. Pyrgos is the capital of the department of Elis in the western part of Peloponnese, Greece. The town owes its name to the presence of a high tower (Pyrgos) established by Ionnia Tsernotas. The two most notable landmarks are the two exquisite neoclassical buildings designed by Schiller; the municipal market and the Apollo Municipal Theatre.
