Plaka. Plaka is a village which lies in the far northeast of Lemnos. It is located 42 kilometers from the capital Myrina and from here reachable by car within 50 minutes. The inhabitants of Plaka are fishermen, farmers and beekeepers; In this region, a great quality of local cheese is produced. The sea here is renowned for the large amount of fish, therefore it is one of the favourite places for the fishermen of Lemnos.
Beaches near Plaka are Molos, Agios Stefanos, Agios Charalambos, Paliokastro and Mantri. Agios Stefanos is the fishing port which also has a nice beach with sunbeds and umbrellas and a beach bar-taverna.
In Plaka the beautiful church of Agios Dimitrios is located and the Agios Charalmos the homonymous Agios Charalambos-church. Behind the church of Agios Charalambos is a taverna with beautiful views over the bays and the sea.
Five kilometres north of Plaka is the cape of Plaka where the eponymous lighthouse stands and which is accessible via a dirt road.
