Mouzaki - Zakynthos (Greece)
Mouzaki. Mouzaki is centrally located in the south of the Greek island of Zakynthos, 9 kilometres southwest of Zakynthos town. It is a traditional village that administratively belongs to Laganas. It lies in middle of a fertile plain surrounded by low hills and thousands of olive trees.Mouzaki is a very old village, it was founded in the 16th century. It is a beautiful village, the buildings are built in the traditional Zakynthian architecture style. In the village are all kinds of traditional houses and villas available for rent. In Mouzaki are two interesting old churches, the Church of the Holy Mother (1741) and the church of Agios Nikolaos (1815). The bells of the churches are considered to be very important monuments. The church of Agios Nikolaos was seriously damaged in the year 1953 (earthquake), but after, it was restored in its original style. The icons in the church were painted in different centuries.Every year, on August 14 and 15, festivals are held in honour of the Blessed Mother.
