Dyo Choria - Tinos (Greece)
Dyo Choria. Dyo Choria on the Greek island of Tinos, literally means "two villages" but in fact, it is just one village. It used to be two separate villages, each with their own government and parish church. Over the years the villages developed, grew and became one.
Dyo Choria is located at an altitude of 380 meters (1,250 ft) on the southeastern slopes of Mount Kechrovouni in the middle of a wooded ravine, where streams of water flow. Today, no more than fifty people live in the village, but in the past it was different. Around 1850, nearly a thousand people lived here.
In the village, located about ten kilometers (6 mi) northeast of Tinos town, is a beautiful town square. It is surrounded by plane trees and other foliage. From Dyo Choria you have a fantastic view of the sea. The village is very neat, with pretty, whitewashed houses and narrow streets full of flowers. Within walking distance are the picturesque villages of Triantaros, Berdemiaros and Arnados.
